The V+ Rewards programme is operated by MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd (Registration 2014/250994/07).
1. General
- By participating in the V+ Rewards programme, you agree to thoroughly read and understand these terms and conditions. Any questions can be directed to the V+ Rewards V+ Helpdesk on 031-001-3390.
- The use of your V+ Rewards card or account is subject to the latest version of these terms and conditions, published at www.v-plus.co.za/termsandconditions. If you do not accept these terms, you must immediately discontinue the use of the V+ Rewards card or V+ Rewards App.
- MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to amend or terminate the V+ Rewards programme at any time. Updates to the terms and conditions will be communicated via the website, and such changes will take effect from the date specified. Continued use of the V+ Rewards card constitutes acceptance of the amended terms. In the event of programme termination, cash rewards will remain valid for redemption for 60 days from the termination date.
- You may opt out of the V+ Rewards programme at any time by emailing MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd at info@v-plus.co.za or contacting the V+ Helpdesk at 031-001-3390.
- MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to deny, suspend, or terminate membership at its sole discretion, with or without notice. Membership may also be cancelled, and loyalty awards forfeited, in cases of abuse or fraudulent activity.
- The V+ Rewards card cannot be used in conjunction with any other loyalty or benefit programme unless explicitly authorized by MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd.
- These terms and conditions represent the entire agreement between you and MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd concerning the V+ Rewards programme.
- MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd is not bound by any undertakings, representations, warranties, or promises not explicitly recorded in these terms.
- Variations to these terms and conditions will only be valid if documented in writing and agreed upon by MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd.
- Any leniency, time extensions, or concessions granted by MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd will not constitute a waiver of its rights or an amendment to these terms and conditions.
- MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd is not FAIS-accredited and, therefore, cannot manually deposit credit into your V+ Rewards account.
2. Marketing Information
- By providing MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd with your personal information and by opting into receiving communications from, you give MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd permission to send you information regarding the V+ Rewards programme and related marketing information via telephone, email, post, mail and physical delivery.
- You are free to opt out of V+ Rewards communication at any time by updating your account preferences at www.v-plus.co.za or via the V+ call centre (031-001-3390).
3. Personal Information
- A valid ID and mobile phone number will be required to register for the V+ rewards programme.
- The V+ Rewards programme is subject to all peremptory provisions of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (as amended) (including any regulations framed thereunder) (“the Act”) which provisions are deemed to be incorporated by reference.
- The V+ Rewards programme is subject to all peremptory provisions of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
- Your privacy is very important to MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd and it will use reasonable efforts to ensure that any information, including personal information, provided by you, or which is collected from you or third parties, is stored in a secure manner.
- Your personal information collected by MiniPOS (Pty)Ltd may be used for the following reasons:
- To comply with statutory and regulatory requirements in respect of the storage and maintenance of documents and information;
- To comply with valid requests for information, including subject access requests and requests in terms of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000;
- To comply with information requests by regulators or bodies lawfully requesting the information (e.g. tax authorities or the South African Police Services);
- For assessing client complaints;
- For internal purposes such as training and monitoring;
- To assist in law enforcement and anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing initiatives.
- Your personal information will be shared with Shell Downstream South Africa (Pty) Ltd, its affiliates and its appointed partners for purposes of marketing, trend analysis and strategy development.
- By submitting your personal information to MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd you give your consent to the processing (including storage) of such information by MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd in terms of these Terms and Conditions and the Act, including your consent that such personal information may be transferred and held on servers outside South Africa.
- MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd will ensure that the V+ Rewards programme remains compliant with the Act.
- Remember that it is your responsibility to safeguard your ID number and mobile phone number profile details and ensure that it is not divulged to anybody else. In the event of someone else using your ID number and mobile phone number username and password to make changes to your profile or transact on your behalf, you will be held responsible for the changes and the outcome thereof.
- You may be required to verify changes to your account through a one-time PIN.
- The V+ Rewards program is subject to all peremptory provisions of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
4. Earning V+ Rewards
- Customers can obtain a V+ card from participating Shell service stations, subject to availability.
- Alternatively, customers registering via the V+ Rewards App do not need to obtain a physical card. A virtual card is automatically allocated upon first registration through the V+ Rewards App.
- To earn V+ Rewards for transactions, the customer must present their V+ Rewards card (physical or digital) at a participating Shell service station at the time of payment.
- If no V+ Rewards card (physical or digital) is presented at the point of sale before payment, V+ Rewards will not be earned for the transaction.
- Cards must be registered before they are eligible to earn V+ Rewards.
- Effective 1 December 2024 - The V+ Rewards programme includes a tiered structure designed to reward customer engagement. Customers are assigned tiers based on their level of participation in the programme, which includes factors such as:
- Frequency of transactions at Shell service stations.
- Volume of fuel purchased.
- Purchases of qualifying non-fuel products at participating Shell shops.
- Details of the V+ Rewards Tiers and associated benefits are published on the V+ Rewards website, www.v-plus.co.za/tiering. Tier allocations are reviewed and updated monthly based on customer activity.
- V+ Rewards expire after a period of 36 months of account inactivity, during which the account has not been utilised for either earning or redeeming rewards.
- When a V+ Rewards account has been blocked for 12 months or longer, any available V+ Rewards are forfeited or manually expired.
- As of 12 December 2024 the following changes will affect customers who make payments for their fuel using Shell and other Fleet cards that already attract a benefit as part of a commercial arrangement with Shell Fleet Solutions.
- For any customer who makes payment for their fuel with a Shell Fleet Card starting with 708177 or 707753 or 705554 or 700253 or a Standard Bank card starting with 6271921 or 5892431 or 5858291 or an ABSA card starting with 50224225 or 70828326;
- The maximum fuel volume earning V+ Rewards will be capped at 150 litres per day.
- The maximum number of transactions earning V+ Rewards will be capped at 3 transactions per day.
- The maximum earning tier will be limited to Regular Tier.
- Shell Fleet Card customers who make payments with a Bank card starting with 707653, 705553, or 707553 will no longer earn V+ Rewards
- In the event that a customer cannot obtain his/her V+ Rewards due to a technical issue at a Shell service station, the customer can claim the outstanding rewards by emailing info@v-plus.co.za and providing his/her receipt for any fuel purchase.
- Airtime and tobacco products are all excluded from shop earn regardless of the tier level.
5. Spending V+ Rewards
- Each customer who earns Rewards using their V+ card will be allocated an Account in the V+ Rewards programme.
- Rewards earned will accrue to this Account and will be available for spending after registration.
- Customers can use their physical or digital V+ Rewards card to redeem their Rewards value.
- The value in the Account cannot be spent without a V+ card (physical or digital)
- Rewards can be redeemed on any product at selected Shell service stations in South Africa
- A list of participating Shell service stations is available on the website and the V+ Rewards App
- Rewards cannot be redeemed as cash at any time, and there is no 'cash out' or 'cash back' facility.
- A Customer cannot transfer V+ Rewards cards or any accrued value held therein to another person.
- Customers may not pay funds or other Value into the Account. There is no deposit facility on the Account.
6. Lost and Stolen Cards
- In the event that a card is lost or stolen, it remains the responsibility of the customer to deactivate the card. This is available on the website, the V+ Rewards App or via the V+ call centre (031-001-3390).
- Customers who already have a registered V+ Rewards account can access their digital card on the V+ Rewards App, eliminating the need to collect or register a new physical card.
- If a customer has previously registered a V+ card but does not use the V+ Rewards App, they will need to transfer their rewards to a new physical card to continue earning rewards (As pointed out on 6.1)
- If the funds in the Customer's Account have been redeemed at a participating Shell service station before the card is blocked, there can be no recovery of these funds for the customer. MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd cannot be held liable for loss of V+ funds.
- Customers can replace a lost or stolen card with a new one that is available at participating Shell service stations in South Africa.
7. Fair Use Policy
- V+ Rewards are intended to reward genuine customers of Shell service stations in South Africa. As such, any transaction or group of transactions that are deemed not to have originated from genuine sales or genuine customers may be excluded from earning V+ Rewards.
- No person who is employed at a Shell service station or related business may accept V+ Rewards on behalf of a customer.
- MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to limit the earning of Rewards to one loyalty scheme per transaction.
- MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to make changes to the list of Shell service stations participating in the V+ Rewards programme.
- MiniPOS staff and suppliers (together with persons related to them) may participate as V+ Rewards members but shall not;
- be eligible to enter into any competitions run through and/or relating to the V+ Rewards Loyalty Programme, and
- be entitled to accept any prizes or instant prizes relating to the V+ Rewards Loyalty Programme.
- Shell staff, including personnel employed by Shell franchisees, and suppliers (together with persons related to them) may participate as V+ Rewards members but shall not;
- be eligible to enter into any competitions run through and/or relating to the V+ Rewards Loyalty Programme, and
- be entitled to accept any prizes or instant prizes relating to the V+ Rewards Loyalty Programme.
8. COLLECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
We collect and process your Personal Information mainly to provide you with access to our services and products, to help us improve our offerings to you and for certain other purposes explained below. The type of information we collect will depend on the purpose for which it is collected and used. We will only collect information that we need for that purpose.
We collect information directly from you when you provide us with your personal details, for example when you register for the V+ Rewards programme or when you submit enquiries to us or contact us. Where possible, we will inform you what information you are required to provide to us and what information is optional.
Examples of information we collect from you are:
- name
- email address
- telephone/cell number
- user-generated content, posts and other content you submit to our website
- transactional data
We also collect information about you from other sources as explained below.
With your consent, we may also supplement the information that you provide to us with information we receive from other companies in the financial and retail industries in order to offer you a more consistent and personalized experience in your interactions with V+ Rewards.
9. COLLECTION OF NON-PERSONAL INFORMATION
We may automatically collect non-personal Information about you such as the type of internet browsers you use or the website from which you linked to our website. We may also aggregate details which you have submitted to the site (for example, the products or services you are interested in). You cannot be identified from this information and it is only used to assist us in providing an effective service on this website. We may from time to time supply third parties with this non-personal or aggregated data for uses in connection with this website.
10. POLICY CHANGES
Please note that this Privacy Policy may change from time to time. We will not reduce your rights under this Policy without your explicit consent. Any Policy changes will be posted on this page. Each version of this Policy will be identified at the top of the page by its effective date.
