The V+ Rewards programme is operated by MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd (Registration 2014/250994/07).

1. General

  1. You are required to read and understand the V+ Rewards programme’s terms and conditions thoroughly. Any questions can be addressed to the V+ Rewards customer services centre on 031-001-3390.
  2. The use of your V+ Rewards card will be subject to the current version of these terms and conditions published on www.v-plus.co.za/termsandconditions. If you don’t accept the terms and conditions you must stop using the V+ Rewards card.
  3. MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to alter or change the operational conditions of the V+ Rewards programme or to terminate it at any point. If the terms and conditions change, we will notify you via our website, which will apply from the effective date indicated and you will be deemed to have agreed to the changes to continue using the V+ Rewards card. In the event of the programme's termination, cash rewards will remain valid and available for 60 days.
  4. You may opt out of the V+ Rewards programme at any time by emailing MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd at info@v-plus.co.za or by contacting the MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd Call Centre at 031-001-3390.
  5. MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to refuse entry to the programme for any individual at their sole discretion.
  6. MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to suspend or terminate any person’s membership without notice.
  7. MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to cancel any person’s membership and withhold any loyalty awards that may have accrued as a result of any abuse of the V+ Rewards programme.
  8. The V+ Rewards card cannot be used in conjunction with any other loyalty or benefit card except where explicitly allowed by MiniPOS (PTY) Ltd.
  9. These terms and conditions constitute the entire agreement between the member and MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd in relation to the V+ Rewards programme.
  10. MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd will not be bound by any undertakings, representations, warranties, promises, terms or conditions or the like not recorded herein.
  11. No variation of any of the terms and conditions shall be of any force or effect unless reduced to writing and agreed by MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd.
  12. Any leniency, extension of time or any other indulgence or concession which may be shown or granted to a member by MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd shall not prejudice MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd rights in any way, nor shall the same constitute a novation of these terms and conditions or a waiver of any of MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd.

2. Marketing Information

  1. By providing MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd with your personal information and by opting into receiving communications from, you give MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd permission to send you information regarding the V+ Rewards programme and related marketing information via telephone, email, post, mail and physical delivery.
  2. You are free to opt out of V+ Rewards communication at any time by updating your account preferences at www.v-plus.co.za or via the V+ call centre (031-001-3390).

3. Personal Information

  1. A valid ID and mobile phone number will be required to register for the V+ rewards programme.
  2. The V+ Rewards programme is subject to all peremptory provisions of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (as amended) (including any regulations framed thereunder) (“the Act”) which provisions are deemed to be incorporated by reference.
  3. The V+ Rewards programme is subject to all peremptory provisions of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
  4. Your privacy is very important to MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd and it will use reasonable efforts to ensure that any information, including personal information, provided by you, or which is collected from you or third parties, is stored in a secure manner.
  5. Your personal information collected by MiniPOS (Pty)Ltd may be used for the following reasons:
    1. To comply with statutory and regulatory requirements in respect of the storage and maintenance of documents and information;
    2. To comply with valid requests for information, including subject access requests and requests in terms of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000;
    3. To comply with information requests by regulators or bodies lawfully requesting the information (e.g. tax authorities or the South African Police Services);
    4. For assessing client complaints;
    5. For internal purposes such as training and monitoring;
    6. To assist in law enforcement and anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing initiatives.
  6. Your personal information will be shared with Shell Downstream South Africa (Pty) Ltd, its affiliates and its appointed partners for purposes of marketing, trend analysis and strategy development.
  7. By submitting your personal information to MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd you give your consent to the processing (including storage) of such information by MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd in terms of these Terms and Conditions and the Act, including your consent that such personal information may be transferred and held on servers outside South Africa.
  8. MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd will ensure that the V+ Rewards programme remains compliant with the Act.
  9. Remember that it is your responsibility to safeguard your ID number and mobile phone number profile details and ensure that it is not divulged to anybody else. In the event of someone else using your ID number and mobile phone number username and password to make changes to your profile or transact on your behalf, you will be held responsible for the changes and the outcome thereof.
  10. You may be required to verify changes to your account through a one-time PIN.
  11. The V+ Rewards program is subject to all peremptory provisions of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)

4. Earning V+ Rewards

  1. Customers can obtain a V+ card from participating Shell service stations, subject to availability.
  2. To earn V+ rewards for transactions, the customer must present their V+ Rewards card at a participating Shell service station at the time of payment.
  3. If no V+ Rewards card is presented at the point of sale before payment, V+ Rewards will not be earned for the transaction.
  4. As of 1 May 2020, cards must be registered before they are eligible to earn V+ Rewards.
  5. It is not possible to earn V+ Rewards retrospectively for past transactions where the V+ card was not presented.
  6. From 1 December 2019 to 31 January 2020, V+ Rewards are earned by, and awarded to, the V+ cardholder at a rate of R0,30 (thirty cents) for every 1 (one) litre of fuel purchased from participating Shell service stations.
  7. From 1 February 2020 until further notice, V+ Rewards are earned by, and awarded to, the V+ Rewards cardholder at a rate of R0,15 (fifteen cents) for every 1 (one) litre of fuel purchased from participating Shell service stations.
  8. From 28 October 2020 until further notice; V+ Rewards can be earned at selected Shell shops for qualifying non-fuel products purchased in-store. Rewards will be earned at a rate of 0.5% of the value spent on qualifying products.
  9. MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to change the V+ Reward ratios from time to time.
    1. Changes will be communicated via the V+ Rewards page on www.v-plus.co.za.
    2. All changes shall become effective as of the date specified.
  10. In the event that the customer cannot obtain his/her V+ rewards due to a technical issue at the Shell service station, the customer can claim the outstanding rewards by contacting the V+ call centre (031-001-3390) and presenting his/her receipt for the items purchased.
  11. V+ Rewards expire after a period of 36 months of account inactivity, during which the account has not been utilised for either earning or redeeming rewards.
  12. As of 2023-10-04 the following changes will affect customers who make payments for their fuel using Shell Fleet cards.
    1. The following rules will apply for Shell Fleet customers who pay with a Shell Fleet Card (Shell card name) starting with 708177, 707753, 705554, or 700253.
      1. The maximum fuel volume earning V+ Rewards will be capped at 150 litres per day.
      2. The maximum number of transactions earning V+ Rewards will be capped at 3 transactions per day.
    2. Shell Fleet Card customers who make payments with a Bank card starting with 707653, 705553, or 707553 will no longer earn V+ Rewards.

5. Spending V+ Rewards

  1. Each customer who earns Rewards using their V+ card will be allocated an Account in the V+ Rewards programme.
  2. All value earned as part of the V+ Rewards programme will accrue to this Account.
  3. The value in the Account will be available to be spent after the 20th of January 2020 on the condition that the card has been registered.
  4. The Customer will use his/her V+ Rewards card to spend his/her Rewards value. The Value in the Account cannot be spent without the V+ card.
  5. Any value in the Account can be spent on any product at selected Shell service stations in South Africa. A list of these service stations will be made available on the website, www.v-plus.co.za or via the V+ call centre (031-001-3390).
  6. No Value in the Account can be redeemed as cash at any time. There is no ‘cash out’ or ‘cash back’ facility.
  7. Customers may not pay funds or other Value into the Account. There is no deposit facility on the Account.
  8. A Customer cannot transfer V+ Rewards cards or any accrued value held therein to another person.

6. Lost and Stolen Cards

  1. In the event that a card is lost or stolen, it remains the responsibility of the customer to deactivate the card. This is available at www.v-plus.co.za or via the V+ call centre (031-001-3390).
  2. If the funds in the Customer’s Account have been redeemed at a Shell service station before the card is blocked, there can be no recovery of these funds for the customer. MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd cannot be held liable for loss of V+ funds.
  3. Customers can replace a lost or stolen card with a new one that is available at Shell service stations in South Africa.

7. Fair Use Policy

  1. V+ Rewards are intended to reward genuine customers of Shell service stations in South Africa. As such, any transaction or group of transactions that are deemed not to have originated from genuine sales or genuine customers may be excluded from earning V+ Rewards.
  2. No person who is employed at a Shell service station or related business may accept V+ Rewards on behalf of a customer.
  3. MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to limit the earning of Rewards to one loyalty scheme per transaction.
  4. MiniPOS (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to make changes to the list of Shell service stations participating in the V+ Rewards programme.
  5. MiniPOS staff and suppliers (together with persons related to them) may participate as V+ Rewards members but shall not;
    1. be eligible to enter into any competitions run through and/or relating to the V+ Rewards Loyalty Programme, and
    2. be entitled to accept any prizes or instant prizes relating to the V+ Rewards Loyalty Programme.
  6. Shell staff, including personnel employed by Shell franchisees, and suppliers (together with persons related to them) may participate as V+ Rewards members but shall not;
    1. be eligible to enter into any competitions run through and/or relating to the V+ Rewards Loyalty Programme, and
    2. be entitled to accept any prizes or instant prizes relating to the V+ Rewards Loyalty Programme.

8. COLLECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

We collect and process your Personal Information mainly to provide you with access to our services and products, to help us improve our offerings to you and for certain other purposes explained below. The type of information we collect will depend on the purpose for which it is collected and used. We will only collect information that we need for that purpose.

We collect information directly from you when you provide us with your personal details, for example when you register for the V+ Rewards programme or when you submit enquiries to us or contact us. Where possible, we will inform you what information you are required to provide to us and what information is optional.

Examples of information we collect from you are:

  • name
  • email address
  • telephone/cell number
  • user-generated content, posts and other content you submit to our website
  • transactional data

We also collect information about you from other sources as explained below.

With your consent, we may also supplement the information that you provide to us with information we receive from other companies in the financial and retail industries in order to offer you a more consistent and personalized experience in your interactions with V+ Rewards.

9. COLLECTION OF NON-PERSONAL INFORMATION

We may automatically collect non-personal Information about you such as the type of internet browsers you use or the website from which you linked to our website. We may also aggregate details which you have submitted to the site (for example, the products or services you are interested in). You cannot be identified from this information and it is only used to assist us in providing an effective service on this website. We may from time to time supply third parties with this non-personal or aggregated data for uses in connection with this website.

10. POLICY CHANGES

Please note that this Privacy Policy may change from time to time. We will not reduce your rights under this Policy without your explicit consent. Any Policy changes will be posted on this page. Each version of this Policy will be identified at the top of the page by its effective date.
